The beach club “ROMA” is located in VIAREGGIO, a sea-town in
Tuscany (Italy) facing the Mediterranean sea.
Viareggio is one of the most famous beaches along the Tyrrhenian cost
for the quality of the facilities and the long tourist package culture;
indeed, the first beach club was built in 1828.
The city traces its roots back to the first half of the 16th century when
it became the only gate to the sea for the Republic of Lucca.
The oldest building in Viareggio, known as TORRE MATILDE, dates back
to this time and was built by the Lucca’s people in 1541 as a defensive

Viareggio is famous for its PROMENADE: a three kilometres long
boulevard with cycling lane running along the sea surrounded by art

The city is also well known for its CARNIVAL that was established in 1873, while the now ever-present papier mâché – used to build the floats featured during its parades – was first introduced in 1925. The official mask of the Carnival is Burlamacco, designed and invented by Uberto Bonetti in 1930. Since 2001, the craftsmen of the Carnival have moved to the “CITTADELLA del CARNEVALE” or, literally, Carnival Town.

open-air theatre with 3,200 seats on the shore of the lake
MASSACIUCCOLI (Torre del lago).
This is a new permanent theatre that was rebuilt in 2009.
Viareggio offers environmental amenities too, such as, the beautiful
PINEWOODS, the gorgeous Massaciuccoli lake, the dunes of the
NATIONAL PARK of SAN ROSSORE and the ALPI APUANE.
